RNA seq transcriptomes of A549 human lung cancer cells treated with a hydro-methanolic extract of Pistacia integerrima galls

The project aims to investigate anti-cancer potential of the galls formed by an insect of the genus Pemphigus on the leaves and petiole of a deciduous tree, Pistacia chinensis subsp. integerrima (hereafter written as, Pistacia integerrima). Our previously published study has demonstrated that the hydro-methanolic extract of Pistacia integerrima galls (the extract abbreviated as PI, hereafter), specifically targeted the non-small lung cancer cells, A549. To further decipher the mechanistic aspects of PI and identify potential molecular targets, we conducted a high-throughput transcriptomics study. This facilitated a comprehensive analysis of the changes induced in the human lung cancer cell line A549 when treated with PI. RNA sequencing was performed in A549 cells treated with two doses of PI, 10 and 30 ug/ml to study the differential transcriptomic profile. This approach also revealed a dose-dependent modulation of numerous genes with PI.
