Survey instrument, analysis code, and aggregate results for "From attraction to intention: Self-efficacy, safety priorities, and participation in cycle tourism across four screening-defined groups"

The study is a cross-sectional web survey of 2,000 adults in Japan (10–11 February 2026; commercial online panel), screened into four groups of 500: current sport cyclists, former sport cyclists, tourists with destination rental-bicycle experience, and a comparison group with neither form of involvement. The article examines how expectation, concern, self-efficacy, and one-year participation intention differ across these groups. Contents tier1_instrument/ — the full survey instrument: bilingual (Japanese/English) item wordings and response anchors for all focal measures (46 items; rows are survey items, not participants). tier2_code/ — Python analysis code (reproduce_analyses_public.py) that reproduces all reported analyses (descriptives, ANOVA, OLS with HC3 robust errors, ordered-logit robustness check, exploratory group-specific models, reliability) when an authorized respondent-level file is supplied. tier3_aggregate_results/ — aggregate CSV files containing the exact published values underlying Tables 1–3, the reliability and robustness checks, and Figures 3–5. README.md and SHA256SUMS.txt (file integrity). What is not included No respondent-level records are included in this deposit — no panel identifiers, exact ages, item-level responses, free-text answers, or original panel-export files. De-identified respondent-level data are available from the corresponding author on reasonable request only, subject to approval by the Research Ethics Committee and the survey panel provider's (Aibridge Inc., "Freeasy") conditions. Ethics The study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of Shiga University (approval no. B250003). All participants were aged 18 years or older; survey information was shown before participation, and proceeding to answer the questionnaire was taken as consent under the approved protocol. Reuse The aggregate CSV files can be used directly (e.g., for meta-analysis or benchmarking). The survey instrument may be reused or adapted with attribution.
