资源简介:
The Moore Farm, which is situated at 670 Boulevard Alexandre-Tache, has a very old and rich history that dates back to the 1800s. It was first bought in 1824 by Philemon Wright, a prominent figure in the settlement of the Ottawa area. Starting at the time of the purchase, the property was initially used for agricultural purposes. It was then passed down from Philemon to his son, Ruggles, who then passed it on to his son who was also called Ruggles. In 1872, following the death of the last Wright owner, the property was sold to David Moore. Following this, the stable was built around 1910. In this timeframe, farm transferred hands a couple of times until it was bought by Virginia Parker Moore in 1951. At this point, the farm became an important equestrian farm in the region. In 1973, Virginia Parker Moore donated the farm to the National Capital Commission (NCC) in the hopes that the farm would be protected and could be enjoyed by the public for generations to come. For a couple of decades, the farm remained unused until the NCC decided to invest money into the site to restore and rehabilitate the buildings. The site was rehabilitated with the goal of creating an eco-education center where members of the community could actively farm the land. This is the Integrated Project Dossier compiled by a group of undergraduate students of the Architectural Conservation and Sustainability Program (Engineers and architects) at Carleton University for the CIVE3207 (ARCN4100) Historic Site Recording and Assessment course in 2016.
