This dataset supports the article ‘Amplification through local critical behavior in the mammalian cochlea’ PNAS, 2025 https://doi.org/10.1073/pnas.2503389122. It contains raw and processed data underlying all main and supplementary figures, including frequency-tuning curves, input–output compression measurements, distortion-product spectra, and optical coherence-tomography vibration maps from isolated gerbil cochlear segments studied ex vivo. The files allow full reproduction of the analyses showing local mechanical/electrical amplification consistent with operation near a Hopf bifurcation.
