In broiler industry, how chicken individuals’ body fat rate is correlated to genomic variations as well as the intestinal microbial spectra is an important yet unexplored topic. In this study by sequencing genomes of obese and lean broilers as well as metagenomes of their gut microbiota, we found both of them varied accordingly with the chicken obesity conditions, although the gut flora showed partial complementary reactions. Our findings reveals how hosts and gut microbes genetically interplay with physiological changes and shed light on possible ways to further lower down broiler adipose rate.
