Parkes observations for project P1059 semester 2020APRS_05

We propose to observe a sample of 22 pulsars at high Galactic latitudes with the Parkes Ultra-Wideband Low (UWL) receiver. This sample of pulsars does not have flux densities nor polarisation measured before. The goal is to characterise their wideband properties in polarisation, spectrum and interstellar scintillation. Such properties will help us develop imaging pulsar search techniques for future radio continuum surveys, such as with the Australian SKA Pathfinder (ASKAP). Wideband spectrum, polarisation and scintillation of pulsars will also be useful for studies of pulsar radiation mechanism and interstellar medium at high Galactic latitudes.

我们提出利用帕克斯望远镜超宽频低（Ultra-Wideband Low, UWL）接收机，对22颗银道面高纬度脉冲星开展观测。该样本中的脉冲星此前均未被测量过流量密度与偏振特性。本研究的目标为表征这些脉冲星在偏振、频谱与星际闪烁方面的宽频特性。这类特性将助力我们开发面向未来射电连续谱巡天项目的成像式脉冲星搜寻技术，例如借助澳大利亚平方千米阵列探路者（Australian SKA Pathfinder, ASKAP）开展的巡天项目。脉冲星的宽频频谱、偏振与闪烁特性，同时也将为银道面高纬度区域的脉冲星辐射机制研究与星际介质研究提供支撑。
