Oral iron plus multiple vitamin supplementation and martial status (EMA-IRON; PI: M Briguglio)

Raw data of the clinical trial NCT04078880. We enrolled older adults scheduled for hip/knee surgery and we randomized them to a pre-operative supplementation program with iron and L-ascorbic acid or to the control group. Iron homeostasis improved in the intervention group, while the changes in the control group were consistent with the depletion of iron reserves. The dataset was used to write the article "Oral iron powder for prehabilitation in hip and knee arthroplasty: a randomized controlled trial to optimize hemoglobin concentration", which was published by the Journal Nutrition clinique et métabolisme in 2023.
