Metagenomic survey of bacterial diversity in Mexico City (south area) atmosphere. air metagenome

Three methods for sampling airborne bacteria were assesed; Durham-type spore trap (Durham), a seven-day recording volumetric spore trap (HST), and a High throughput 'Jet' spore and particle sampler (Jet). Samples were simultaneously collected with the trhee devices during a week survey and Total DNA was recovered for sequencing the metagenomic 16S rDNA with the Ion Torrent Sequencing Platform. The methodology to collect bioaerosols and extract high quality DNA to high throughput sequencing was standardized.
