Understanding the impact of Lactobacillus jensenii ATCC 25258 on Staphylococcus aureus MN8 ccpA in vaginal media

During vaginal colonization, Staphylococcus aureus will produce the toxin, TSST-1, under certain conditions. That can lead to the serious disease menstrual toxic shock syndrome. This RNA-seq experiment was designed to assess Staphylococcus aureus (MN8) mutant for the glucose responsive regulator, CcpA, alone of in interaction with Lactobacillus jensenii, a representative of the vaginal microbiota. Bacteria where cultured in vaginally defined media with low amount of glucose (0.7mM) for 4 hours prior to RNA extraction and sequencing.
