This paper investigates the Brazilian Portuguese heritage language spoken by migrant speakers from Brazil and their children, in order to reflect whether the minority language Brazilian Portuguese used in Italy is ascribable to contemporary Brazilian Portuguese and whether, like it, it has a typological tendency to be a partial pro-drop language, thus to predict greater subject filling, for reasons of referential clarity and communicative effectiveness.
