Identification and characterization of C. elegans host factors involved in Orsay virus replication

The goal of this study was to leverage the Orsay virus-Caenorhabditis elegans (C. elegans) experimental model to address fundamental mechanisms governing host-virus interactions. A C. elegans line with an integrated virus reporter transgene was subjected to chemical mutagenesis with ethyl methanesulfonate, which introduces G to A nucleotide substitutions. The mutations causing a virus reporter-off phenotype were identified by whole-genome sequencing.
