Aquaculture in 2018. Progression of economic performance after a period of uncertainty

In 2018, the value added generated by aquaculture enterprises increased by 8.6% compared to 2017, thanks to an increase in sales in terms of volume and value. At €114 million, net profit exceeded its 2010 level for the first time. Within the sector, the net margin of shellfish farming increased between 2010 and 2018. During this period, oyster and mussel production declined sharply.
