‘ABDALLAH B. MAḤMÛD b. Maudûd Abu’l-faḍl Mauṣilî’s (d. A.H. 683, at Baghdâd) Commentary on his own المختار, or Abstract of Ḥanafite Law. It is entitled الاختیار. Cf. Ḥ. Kh. v. 436; Cat. Lugd. iv. 126; Aumer, Hdss. Münch. 96; and Flügel, Class. 326.

The original text is distinguished by قال.

In two volumes. Well written, with numerous notes, but imperfect and injured both at the beginning and end. The first volume, of which 30 foll. Are wanting, commences in the کتاب الصلوة, with the words ها هنا ینصرف, and concludes with the کتاب المساقاة. The colophon runs as follows: تم النصف الاول من هذا الکتاب بعون الملک الوهاب علی ید اضعف الطلاب قاسم الملقب بملآ جان بن مولانا احمد بن مولانا حبیب الله بن مولانا مریجان (؟) غفر الله له .. تاریخه سنة سبعین و تسعمائة الخ.

Foll. 169v. and 170 contain two prayers (دعاءِ قنوت and دعاءِ استخارة), with explanations, and various notes.

The second volume (fol. 171) is inscribed: هذا نصف الاختیار لصاحب المختار للشیخ الامام العلامة جمال الدین عبدالله بن محمود بن مودود بلدجی1 رحمه الله. It begins with the کتاب النکاح, and terminates in the کتاب الدیات. Two leaves are wanting after fol. 297.

The first vol. is erroneously inscribed نهایة شرح هدایه.
