Annotated record of the detailed examination of Mn deposits of site 6298 surveyed by R/V Vityaz in the Southern Basin of the Pacific Ocean@en

From 1983 until 1989 NOAA-NCEI compiled the NOAA-MMS Marine Minerals Geochemical Database from journal articles, technical reports and unpublished sources from other institutions. At the time it was the most extended data compilation on ferromanganese deposits world wide. Initially published in a proprietary format incompatible with present day standards it was jointly decided by AWI and NOAA to transcribe this legacy data into PANGAEA. This transfer is augmented by a careful checking of the original sources when available and the encoding of ancillary information (sample description, method of analysis...) not present in the NOAA-MMS database.1983年至1989年间，美国国家海洋和大气管理局国家环境信息中心（NOAA-NCEI）从期刊论文、技术报告及其他机构的未公开资料中，汇编构建了NOAA-MMS海洋矿物地球化学数据库。在当时，该数据集是全球范围内覆盖最全面的铁锰矿床（ferromanganese deposits）相关数据汇编成果。该数据库最初以专有格式发布，与现行标准不兼容，为此AWI与NOAA共同决定，将这一遗留数据转录至PANGAEA。此次数据转录工作还额外增加了两项内容：在可获取原始资料时对其进行细致核查，同时对NOAA-MMS数据库未收录的辅助信息（如样品描述、分析方法等）进行编码补充。
