The epitope was deduced. The epitope sequence was from the reference cited: Karr et al. (1986) J Immunol 137(9): 2886-90 [PMID: 3020127]. The epitope recognized by the mAbs was deduced to be within residues 1-40 of the HLA-DR4 beta chain by analysis of reactivity with DR4/7 ß1 hybrid molecules.
