Direct Air Capture Technology Commercialisation

This thesis examines strategies to commercialise a technology, direct air capture (DAC), that removes carbon dioxide from the atmosphere by making it more efficient and affordable. It identifies the benefits and limitations of different heating mechanisms and determines ways to recover wasted heat. The final design, based on experimental and simulation findings, combines energy recovery with improved airflow and heat distribution to deliver a simpler, scalable, lower-cost pilot system. It also examines how design simplicity and supply chain development affect cost and commercial success, enabling greater CO₂ removal with potential for rapid mass deployment.
