Data, animals and R scripts associated with the paper: Behavioural Ecology Meets Animal Breeding: Behavioural and Genetic Drivers of Chick Production in Farmed Pekin Ducks

This Zendo submission accompanies the manuscript titled, "Behavioural Ecology Meets Animal Breeding: Behavioural and Genetic Drivers of Chick Production in Farmed Pekin Ducks." It contains raw data on mating pairs, including identifiers for dams and sires, the number of chicks produced, and mating pen information. The R script "Chick_data_processing.R" processes this raw data to calculate metrics such as the number of chicks and mates per individual dam and sire, as well as variability in reproductive success, like the coefficient of variation. This results in two output files, Dam_data.txt and Sire_data.txt. The second R script, "Duck_fitness.R," utilises these output files to run a series of Bayesian animal models, aiming to understand the genetic and environmental factors influencing chick production in farmed Pekin ducks. All animal model results have been included in this submission.
