Systemic Inflammation Response Syndrome (SIRS) is a severe inflammatory response that can lead to organ dysfunction and failure. The modulation of the gut microbiome has been gaining traction as a novel and effective therapeutic approach for managing SIRS. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formulations have shown significant potential in treating inflammation-related disorders, including SIRS, by modulating gut microbiota. However, a comprehensive understanding of the specific chemical constituents responsible for the intestinal regulatory effects observed in TCM formulations, as well as the possible synergistic interactions among these compounds in modulating gut microbiota, remains elusive.
