As an evolutionary group, squamates (lizards and snakes) have diverse characteristics that have intrigued evolutionary biologists, but high-quality genomic resources for squamates are relatively sparse. Sceloporus lizards have a long history of being ecological, evolutionary, and physiological models, making them a target for genomic resource development. We present a high-quality chromosome-level reference genome assembly (utilizing 10X Genomics Chromium, HiC, and PacBio data) for the eastern fence lizard, Sceloporus undulatus.
