The Arctic region is considered to be vulnerable to the global warming, which would potentially enhance emissions of the greenhouse gases including CO2 and CH4 from the carbon pools in the Arctic regions into the atmosphere. The objective of this study is to detect the increases in the atmospheric greenhouse gas levels associated with the ongoing global warming in the Arctic region in the early stage. The continuous observations of the atmospheric CO2 and CH4 mixing ratios during this MR18-05C cruise would allow us to detect the enhanced mixing ratios associated with the regional emissions and to estimate the distribution of the regional emission sources. The atmospheric CO mixing ratios, which were also observed at the same time, can be used as an indicator of the anthropogenic emissions associated with the combustion processes.

北极地区被视作极易受全球变暖影响的区域,全球变暖或会加剧北极区域碳库内二氧化碳(CO₂)、甲烷(CH₄)等温室气体向大气的排放。本研究的目标为早期探测北极区域内与当前持续的全球变暖相关的大气温室气体浓度升高情况。本次MR18-05C航次中对大气CO₂、CH₄混合比的连续观测,可帮助我们识别区域排放引发的混合比升高现象,并估算区域排放源的分布情况。本次观测同步获取的大气一氧化碳(CO)混合比数据,可作为燃烧过程相关人为排放的指示标志物。
