This dataset consists of phytoplankton and bacterioplankton abundance data from ice core, brown ice, and below-ice water samples collected in the Southern Ocean in February 2024 during the PICCOLO research cruise SD035 aboard RRS Sir David Attenborough. Samples were analysed by scientists from Plymouth Marine Laboratory using flow cytometry. These data contribute to the understanding of carbon cycling within the Southern Ocean overturning circulation.
