BodenBiodiv_Data on earthworms, soil, and microbial biomass/necromass in agroecosystems across Austria 2024

This dataset contains data on earthworms (abundance, biomass, species), soil (chemical: N, P, K, Mg, TOC, SOM, pH. physical: bulk density, soil moisture, soil temperature. microbial: microbial biomss C and N, microbial necromass amino sugars) and agricultural management. Data were collected in 2024 for the project BodenBiodiv and covers agroecosystems (arable fields, field margins, grassland, alpine meadows) across all of Austria. Earthworms were collected using handsorting of three soil monoliths (20x20x20cm) per sampling site. All earthworm abundance and biomass parameters are given per m2, averaged across those three soil monoliths. Soil chemical parameters were determined from a composite sample from those same soil monoliths (20cm depth). Soil bulk density and soil moisture content were assessed for 5cm depth. Soil temperature was measured at 10 cm depth. Soil microbial biomass and necromass were determined from composite samples consisting of nine subsamples per sampling site (10 cm depth). Coordinates of sites are rounded for privacy protection reasons.
