Raw trajectory data of "Evidence of visual learning and wavelength differential responses in three podocopids (Crustacea: Ostracoda)"

This dataset contains raw and Savitzky-Golay smoothed two-dimensional trajectories of individual non-marine ostracods in the miniaturized arenas for the different treatments. The species studied are codified as Lox_ell for Loxochonca elliptica, Xest_nit for Xestoleberis nitida, and finally Viz_viat for Vizcainocypria viator. The treatments with positive (food) conditioning are codified as trt+, those with negative (stress) conditioning as trt-. Trajectories were extracted from video recordings (30 fps, undersampled to 15 fps for analysis) using a custom MATLAB code. Each .mat file includes per-frame centroid coordinates stored as active movement segments (tracklets) and NOT as full continuous paths. Tracklets vary in duration depending on animal activity and tracking continuity; inactive, or ambiguous intervals were excluded, while limited interpolation will be applied only when needed for subsequent analyses. Some variable names in the .mat files may not accurately represent the final analysis parameters used due to legacy naming in the MATLAB processing pipeline. In particular, variables labeled with w11_o2 correspond to trajectories smoothed using a filter with window length 7 frames and polynomial order 2, which is the smoothing configuration used throughout the post-processing data analyses. Additionally, kinematic quantities stored in the .mat files are not normalized by frame rate. To obtain physical units in cm/s, values should be multiplied by the effective sampling rate 15 frames per second.
