New insight on corrosion behavior of Inconel 690 in phosphate glass melts

In this work, we studied the corrosion behavior of Inconel 690 metals in phosphate glass melts. Results of experimental and the molecular dynamic simulations demonstrated that increasing Al content will promote the formation of crosslink P–O–Al bonds by replacing P–O–P, enhancing the energy barrier of ionic migration. Our study shows significant potentials for applications in the compositional design in high-level waste phosphate glass vitrifying system.
