An innovative tool for measuring sunlight propagation through different snowpacks

Springtime measurement were performed on different sites in Western Italian Alps (Testa Grigia, Cime Bianche, Pt. Helbronner) and in Svalbard archipelago (Ny-Alesund, Edithbreen glacier). Filedworks were carried out over two years, between April 2022 and March 2023. Key sites at different elevations were selected to study various snow conditions. Fieldwork also included snow pits and a detailed stratigraphic analysis of snow layers.
