The proposed experimental design in this study aimed to explore and contrast the full range of soluble proteins present in both transformed and adventitious roots. The adventitious roots were harvested from <i>C. asiatica</i> seedlings grown in vitro. The transformed roots, previously characterized by Alcalde et al. (2022) (DOI: 10.3389/fpls.2022.1001023) in terms of their appearance and chemical composition, were classified as HIGH, MID, or LOW, depending on their ability to produce centellosides – the key active compounds in <i>C. asiatica</i> plants.For each group of roots, samples were taken in quadruplicate and analyzed using a label-free proteomic approach. This analysis involved searching against the Uniprot databases specific to the <i>Apiaceae</i> taxonomy . A total of 213 measurable proteins were detected and chosen based on specific criteria: they needed to have a SCORE of at least 15, a p-value greater than or equal to 0.05, and a fold change (FC) of at least 2.
