These are letterpress copies of reports and recommendations of the Board sent by the Board's Secretary to the Minister. Recommendations of the Board are shown in more detail and are more discursive than the Board's formal minutes. The majority of recommendations relate to the acceptance of tenders and inspections of work in progress, although some reports deal with the method of calling for tenders, the question of subletting in connection with government contracts, the possibility of using the unemployed on the construction of roadways, a proposal for the establishment of a tender board for the supply of stores for all government departments, the proposed transfer of control over the boring of artesian wells to the Department of Mines, and estimates of expenditure.In some instances matters referred to the Board were examined by a sub-committee appointed by the Board, In such cases, the reports of sub-committees are included.(7/5833). 1 vol. Note: This description is extracted from Concise Guide to the State Archives of New South Wales, 3rd Edition 2000.
