Data of the oxygen thermal biology, respiratory metabolism and aeroobic scope of the sea cucumber Astichopus multifidus

These data contain the results of a study that defined the thermal biology of adult Astochopus multifidus, a tropical sea cucumber. The results include maximum and minimum critical temperatures, routine metabolism, standard metabolism, and peak activity metabolism. The aerobic scope and factorial aerobic scope were calculated from these data. These results were compared with those obtained by measuring metabolic rate in animals exposed to a thermal ramp, to determine whether the aerobic scope measured in this way yielded results similar to those obtained in acclimatised animals.

The results for the activity of the antioxidant defence system, oxidative damage, and the enzymes acetylcholinesterase and carboxylesterase are also presented.
