Histograms of Medical Embarrassment across gender, embarrassment type and samples

This project explored how familiarity with a physician affects patient embarrassment in medical settings. Across three studies, participants imagined six scenarios involving bodily or judgment-related embarrassment with either a familiar or unfamiliar doctor. Results showed that familiarity increased judgment-related embarrassment but decreased bodily embarrassment. This pattern held across college students and nationally representative U.S. samples, regardless of doctor gender.
