Memorials from the Isle of Man TT Races

This archive reflects a program of investigation into those memorials erected in the aftermath of fatality at the Isle of Man TT Races and Manx Grand Prix motorcycles races between 1907 and 2011. It includes information on memorials raised to riders, fans and officials. These monuments vary considerably in form from transient 'spontaneous shrines' created in the immediate aftermath of death to more permanent monuments, that include place names, benches, plaques, statues and even memorial gardens. It consists of a database of both deaths and memorials, GIS files which include spatial data on the course and the distribution of deaths and memorials. It also includes an image gallery of memorials.
