Exploring the X-ray properties of a new black widow system
收藏资源简介:
PSR J17311847 is a recently discovered eclipsing millisecond pulsar in acircularized orbit with a very low mass companion still pouring matter in thebinary. It represents only the fourth known case of a black widow pulsar in thegalactic field. Xray emission from intrabinary shock is expected in thissystem due to the interaction between pulsar wind and matter released from thecompanion star. In the framework of a multiwavelength campaign, we ask for a 28ks exposure (one orbit of the MSP) to: i) detect the Xray counterpart to thebinary; ii) investigate the occurrence of variability in the Xray emissionalong the orbit (signature of intrabinary shock); iii) constrain thedistribution of plasma in the system and the geometry of the Xray emission. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
