Green ribbons

Green ribbons are those parts of the road villages where the statue is dominated by a combination of road planting and pendulum gardens, which give the road village a green character. One sometimes speaks of a tunnel forest. Slingertuinen are gardens in English landscape style, which appear as a front garden for monumental farms in East Groningen, Central Groningen and Northeast Groningen. Parts of road villages where these plantations are present are indicated on Map 6a of the Environmental Regulation.
