Grade AC2 easements relate to easements relating to listed and classified sites: natural monuments and sites whose conservation or preservation presents, from an artistic, historical, scientific, legendary or picturesque point of view, a general interest shall be subject to departmental listing or classification measures. The inscription either concerns natural monuments or sites that are deserving of protection but not of a remarkable interest sufficient to justify their classification, or constitutes a precautionary measure prior to classification. It can also be a suitable tool for the preservation of small rural heritage in areas with little land pressure. The classification offers strong protection by prohibiting, unless special authorisation, the carrying out of any work aimed at modifying or destroying the appearance of the site.
