Main aim of this study was to investigate the effects of monochloramine on the short-term succession of bacterial communities in mature tap water biofilms. Tap water biofilms were grown in annular reactors for about seven months to allow bacterial communities to become mature before introduction of monochloramine to the reactors (Ng et al., 2021). Short-term bacterial community succession of mature biofilms treated with monochloramine was then investigated through water quality assessment studies, persister cultures and 16S rRNA next generation sequencing (NGS) studies.
