Biomarker concentrations in marine surface sediment samples from West Antarctic continental shelves alongside satellite observations and model simulations@en

We analyzed biomarker concentrations on 41 surface sediment samples from the continental shelves of the Antarctic Peninsula, the Amundsen and Weddell Seas, specifically: highly branched isoprenoids, phytosterols and archaeal isoprenoid glycerol dialkyl glycerol tetraethers (GDGTs) for reconstructing recent sea-ice distribution patterns and water temperatures, respectively. Alongside our biomarker-based results, sea-ice distributions obtained from satellite observations and estimated sea-ice patterns and sea surface temperatures deduced from model simulations are presented.本数据集针对取自南极半岛、阿蒙森海与威德尔海大陆架的41个表层沉积物样品，测定了其生物标志物浓度。所检测的生物标志物包括高支链类异戊二烯烃、植物甾醇，以及古菌类异戊二烯型甘油二烷基甘油四醚（GDGTs），上述标志物分别用于重建近期海冰分布格局与水体温度。除基于生物标志物的分析结果外，本数据集还呈现了通过卫星观测获取的海冰分布数据，以及经模式模拟推导得到的海冰格局与海表温度估算结果。
