National Atlas of areas at risk of desertification — Charter of the main soils of cultural interest in Italy

The Ministry of the Environment and the Protection of the Territory financed by act of 28-12-2001 the Experimental Institute for the Study and Defense of the Soil of Florence for the “Predisposition of National Atlas of areas at risk of desertification” at the scale of recognition (reference scales 1:100,000-1.250.000). The MATTM considers this Atlas as a preparatory instrument for the correct implementation of the National Plan for Combating Siccity and Desertification, adopted by the Italian State in implementation of the United Nations Convention on Combating Siccity and Desertification. The above-mentioned act provides for the participation of the National Institute of Agricultural Economics in its specific areas of competence. The study area includes Abruzzo, Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Lazio, Marche, Molise Puglia, Sardinia, Sicily, Tuscany, Umbria. Soil regions are the first level of the landscape hierarchy. The information layer of soil regions represents potentially homogeneous areas of land evolution at continental level, called “soil region”.环境与国土保护部依据2001年12月28日法案，资助佛罗伦萨土壤研究与防护实验研究所（Experimental Institute for the Study and Defense of the Soil of Florence）开展“国家荒漠化风险区域图集编制”工作，制图识别比例尺为1:100000至1:1250000。环境与国土保护部（下文简称MATTM）将该图集视为正确落实《国家干旱与荒漠化防治计划》的筹备工具，该计划由意大利政府为履行《联合国防治干旱与荒漠化公约》而制定。上述法案规定，国家农业经济研究院（National Institute of Agricultural Economics）应在其专属职权范围内参与此项工作。研究区域涵盖阿布鲁佐、巴西利卡塔、卡拉布里亚、坎帕尼亚、拉齐奥、马尔凯、莫利塞、普利亚、撒丁岛、西西里、托斯卡纳与翁布里亚。土壤区域（soil region）是景观层级体系的一级分类单元。土壤区域信息层代表了大陆尺度下具有潜在均一性的土地演化区域，此类区域被称为“土壤区域”。
