This project aims to investigate the microbial community structure and functional genes involved in the aerobic degradation of the artificial sweetener acesulfame (ACE) in freshwater sediment microcosms. We performed metagenomic sequencing of enriched sediment communities to elucidate the degradation pathway and key microbial players.
