Management of Hidradenitis Suppurativa with Resorcinol: A Review

Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic inflammatory condition characterized by painful nodules, abscesses, tunnels, and scarring. Although lesions are sterile, antibiotics remain a first-line therapy due to their anti-inflammatory properties. Antibiotic resistance is therefore a concern, calling for alternative treatment options. Resorcinol, an isomer of benzenediol, is an antiseptic and disinfectant with keratolytic properties with evidence of improved clinical response and quality of life, and reduced severity and pain in HS. This review analyzes the literature and summarizes the efficacy of resorcinol in the treatment of HS.
