Biomarkers for Neonatal Sepsis – does a pathogen type matter?

The study of immunoregulation in newborns can be helpful in determining the pathophysiology of neonatal sepsis and will contribute to improving the diagnosis, prognosis and treatment. An urgent and unsatisfied medical need remains to understand hyperinflammation or hypoinflammation associated with sepsis in newborns. The study included infants up to 4 days of age. The criterion for determining a case of "sepsis" was a positive blood culture.
