Synthetically established syntrophic cultures of Desulfovibrio vulgaris Hildenborough and Methanococcus maripaludis S2 were cultivated in two different evolution environments (shaking vs no-shaking) for 1000 generations. DNA samples were collected and subjected to whole genome sequencing to be able to identify variations accumulated during the evolution of syntrophy in both species.
