Sustaining Healthy Country and Biodiversity of Cape York Peninsula

This project will deliver improvements to the management of country and biodiversity through planning and implementing on ground actions across Cape York. Strong governance principles and evidence-based practice, adaptive planning, management and monitoring are central to this project. Delivery will integrate management of weeds, pest animals, and fire, led by community and Indigenous groups to build NRM skills and knowledge. Information will feed into the development of a community-led EPBC Offsets program, enable sharing of knowledge and contribute to planning for natural disaster recovery. Outcomes will improve collaborations, governance and community capacity for managing natural resources to maintain ecosystem resilience and health.

本项目将通过在约克角半岛（Cape York）范围内规划并推进实地行动，优化传统领地与生物多样性管理工作。本项目以健全的治理原则、循证实践、适应性规划、管理与监测为核心支撑。项目实施将整合杂草、有害动物与火情管理工作，由社区与原住民群体主导，以培育自然资源管理（Natural Resource Management, NRM）相关技能与知识。相关信息将服务于社区主导的《环境保护与生物多样性保育法》（Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation, EPBC）补偿计划的制定，助力知识共享，并为自然灾害恢复规划提供支撑。项目成果将强化跨主体协作、完善治理架构并提升社区自然资源管理能力，从而维持生态系统韧性与健康水平。
