The reprogramming studies of Figure 5, use the same parameters as in Table 2 with the following additional changes to Eq. 2. For the curves in the left column of Figure 5, where an external signal SG suppresses Gata-6, the denominator in the expression for d[G]/dt is appended with the term q3SG with q3 = 10. Correspondingly for the right column of Figure 5, where Nanog is induced by an external signal SN, the expression for d[N]/dt is modified, by appending to its rate law, i.e, its numerator and denominator the terms e3SN and f4SN, respectively, with e3 = 1.0, f4 = 1.0. For both cases the external signal A = 25. For Figure S2, we use the same parameter values as in Table 2, but for A = 10.
