Dataset for: Interrogation of Chesapeake Bay sediment microbial communities for intrinsic alkane-utilizing potential under anaerobic conditions

This dataset reports partial 16S rRNA gene sequences obtained from sediment collected across a transect of the Chesapeake Bay in August 2010. Sediment samples were obtained via standard sediment core methods. Microbial community DNA was extracted using a MoBio PowerSoil DNA Isolation kit, and partial 16S rRNA genes were sequenced via 454 GS FLX Titanium sequencing.本数据集收录了2010年8月沿切萨皮克湾（Chesapeake Bay）断面采集的沉积物样本中的部分16S核糖体RNA（16S rRNA）基因序列。沉积物样本采用标准沉积物岩芯采集方法获取，通过MoBio PowerSoil DNA分离试剂盒提取微生物群落基因组DNA，并借助454 GS FLX Titanium测序平台完成部分16S rRNA基因的测序工作。
