Our yeast strains were of interest for a number of reasons. C3253 strain showed significant growth in the presence of inhibitors (such as furfural and vanillin) during ethanol production. C3751 strains also showed substantial thermotolerant properties in fermentation at 37oC-40oC. BY4743 is derived from the S288C strain, a commonly used yeast laboratory strain.
