资源简介:
This dataset has been DEPRECATED. The full timeline of these data can be found in: USDA Forest Service, Northern Research Station. 2023. Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest: Weekly Snow and Frost Measurements, 1955 - present ver 18. Environmental Data Initiative. https://doi.org/10.6073/pasta/5e1c5cb3aae2391cda9ca3ab4487046c. Soil frost measurements have been collected approximately weekly during the winter season using transect s adjacent to the established network of standard rain gages from 1956 to the present. Soil frost data is collected in conjunction with snow depth measurements along each snow course. The ground is probed with a ski pole to detect the presence or absence of frost at 2 points adjacent to each of the 10 snow sample points. At the first 2 points for which frost is detected, the soil is excavated and frost thickness is measured. Data from one course are averaged for each collection date. These data were gathered as part of the Hubbard Brook Ecosystem Study (HBES). The HBES is a collaborative effort at the Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest, which is operated and maintained by the USDA Forest Service, Northern Research Station.
