The flood situation along the Elbe remains tense. The map shows the change in the water surface of the Elbe in the Dessau/Arneburg area between 9 and 12 June 2013. The depicted water masks were taken from a TerraSAR-X scene from June 9th (recording time: 19:01 CET) and 12 June 2013 (recording date: 07:25 CET) derived. Both TerraSAR-X scenes have a spatial resolution of 8.25 meters. RapidEye data (recording date 2009) with a spatial resolution of 5 meters serve as a background image. A separate detail map (product no. 41) was created for the area of a dam break near Fischbeck. The strong increase in the southern area of the map shows the breakage of Klein Rosenburg on June 9, 2013. The levels shown in the map were recorded at the time of recording of the TerraSAR-X scene of 12 June. Please note that the flood situation in urban areas, under vegetation cover and in areas with high gradients may not be fully detected due to radar geometry. This product was created within the framework contract “ZKI-DE” between the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI) and the German Aerospace Center (DLR).
