Forensic and bioarchaeological identification of the skeletal remains of Béla, Duke of Macsó (c. 1245–1272)

This dataset contains genome-wide ancient DNA data from the remains of Béla, Duke of Macsó (c. 1245–1272), identified through forensic and bioarchaeological analysis. The individual, labelled BPDOM01, was a descendant of both the Árpád and Rurik dynasties, confirmed by autosomal and Y-chromosomal genetic data. DNA extraction and library preparation were carried out at Harvard University, with bone powder prepared at the Pinhasi Lab, Vienna. Sequencing was performed on the Illumina HiSeq X10 platform after 1240k SNP capture.
