The data is collected from a cross-sectional survey of 415 respondents living in Klang Valley, Malaysia. A simple random sampling technique was employed. Logistic regression models were implemented to identify individual sociodemographic characteristics that influence urban travel mode choice. Three types of travel mode choices were being assessed, namely active transport, public transport, and private transport. Male, low education level, student, subscribed to public transport service, household without children and do not own private motorised vehicle were more likely to active travel. Influencing factors such as age, ethnicity, public transport subscription and presence of children in a household have a significant impact on public transport mode choice. Female, high education and socioeconomic level, household with the presence of children and own private motorised vehicle were more likely to incorporate private transport in daily trips. The findings could facilitate policymakers and local authorities to accommodate the transportation needs of different segments in society.
