Production of Asphalt Pavements Using Asphalt Waste and Other Types of Waste

The increasing generation of asphalt pavement waste and other solid waste materials creates significant environmental and economic challenges for the construction industry. The reuse of these materials in asphalt pavement production provides an opportunity to reduce the consumption of natural aggregates, decrease construction waste, and improve the sustainability of road infrastructure. This study aims to investigate a methodology for producing asphalt pavement mixtures using reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) and selected waste materials as partial substitutes for conventional pavement components. The research methodology involves the characterization of waste materials, assessment of their physical and mechanical properties, preparation of asphalt mixtures with different replacement ratios, and evaluation of their engineering performance. Laboratory testing is proposed to determine key characteristics such as stability, density, air voids, water resistance, deformation resistance, and durability. The results are intended to establish the influence of waste-material content on the performance of asphalt mixtures and to identify suitable proportions for pavement production. The proposed approach demonstrates the potential of combining reclaimed asphalt pavement with appropriately selected waste materials to reduce the demand for virgin construction resources while maintaining the required functional and mechanical properties of asphalt pavement.
