Development of a Co-Designed Digital Parenting Program for Internalising Problems in Autistic Children

Parenting programs can help parents in their important role of supporting their child’s mental health, however, existing programs often do not meet the unique needs of parents of autistic children. To address this gap, my thesis developed a co-designed digital parenting program for internalising problems in autistic children. The findings contributed to the development of the Partners in Parenting Kids-Autism parenting program, Parenting Guidelines for supporting sleep in autistic children, and a new measure of parental self-efficacy to reduce internalising problems in autistic children. These may help to inform research and clinical practice focused on empowering and supporting parents of autistic children.
